Stone Mountain Park in Georgia is a very interesting place with a lot of history. The rock is a striking formation that is hard to believe. The park can be a half-day activity or even a weekend trip. The site has interesting spots to explore and offers lodging. You can enjoy outdoor concerts on special dates, such as July 4th, Independence Day. Check their website to see other events.
This is our recommended parking spot. There are many other options, but this is the best spot to explore the top hiking trails.
ParkingWe recommend using restrooms before starting activities, specially if you have kids.
RestroomsThe Summit Skyride is one of the attractions at the park, and you can enjoy an amazing view. We recommend buying a one-way ticket up and walking down the trail. On busy days, the wait is long and there is nowhere to sit, but it is worth it.
To SkyrideOnce you reach the top, you can cool off at the Top of the Mountain Gift Shop and buy souvenirs. The shop also offers beautiful views.
To Top of the MountainTo get to Confederate Hall, you need to follow the Walkup Trail, which leads you directly to the building. Once you reach the bottom, you will be able to see the train passing by. To return to the parking lot, you should take the Cherokee Trail.
